Every prompt below includes a use case, the full prompt, an example of the output to expect, and tips. Swap the [bracketed] parts for your own details.
Socratic Tutor
Use case: Learn a topic by being questioned, not lectured.
Prompt:
Be my Socratic tutor for [topic]. My current level: [beginner/some basics/etc.].
Don't give answers directly. Ask me one question at a time, starting easy. If I'm wrong, give a hint, not the answer. After every 5 questions, summarize what I've shown I understand and what's still shaky.
Example output (excerpt): Tutor: "If you put $100 in an account that earns 10% a year, how much is there after one year?" Me: "$110." Tutor: "Right. Now what happens in year two: does it earn $10 again, or something else?"
Tips: Say 'switch to explain mode' if you're stuck for 3 rounds.
30-Day Skill Plan
Use case: Build a realistic learning schedule.
Prompt:
Create a 30-day plan to learn [skill] to the point where I can [concrete outcome].
I have [minutes] per day, on [days]. Resources I already have: [list or 'none'].
Each week: a goal, daily tasks (under my time limit), and a small project to prove progress. Include 2 rest/catch-up days per week.
Example output (excerpt): Week 1 goal: Hold a 2-minute conversation introducing yourself in Spanish. Day 3 (20 min): learn 15 'about me' phrases; record yourself saying them.
Tips: A concrete outcome ('order dinner in Spanish') beats a vague one ('learn Spanish').
Flashcard Factory
Use case: Turn notes or a chapter into study cards.
Prompt:
Turn the text below into [20] flashcards in a table (Front | Back).
Mix types: definitions, 'why' questions, and 'what would happen if' questions. Backs under 25 words. Skip trivial facts.
Text: [paste]
Example output (excerpt): Front: "Why does a vaccine need a booster?" | Back: "Immune memory can fade; a booster re-exposes the body so it rebuilds strong, fast antibody responses."
Tips: Paste the table into Anki or Quizlet using their import from CSV/tab option.
Steelman Both Sides
Use case: Understand a debate fairly.
Prompt:
Explain the debate over [issue]. Give the strongest version of each main position (steelman, not strawman), the best evidence each side points to, and where they actually disagree (values vs. facts).
End with 3 questions I could ask to figure out where I stand. Stay neutral.
Example output (excerpt): "Much of the disagreement on remote work is about values (flexibility vs. in-person culture) rather than facts, since productivity studies point both ways depending on the job."
Tips: Ask for sources and verify them; AI can misremember studies.
